Bonzai Sushi & Noodle Bar
Bonzai is a gorgeous spot if you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion. It’s an intimate restaurant serving exceptional sushi, bento boxes, and various platters. The chefs at Bonzai have over ten years of training in Japan, so you can trust that their knowledge of Japanese cuisine is exceptional. Bonzai’s ingredients are meticulously selected to ensure the highest quality possible. Not only that but the decorations and tableware are also unique and special. Most of their ingredients are directly imported from Japan, guaranteeing an authentic dining experience. We found the portion sizes very generous. In addition to the sushi, we loved the teppanyaki fried noodles with duck and the tempura dishes.

Tokygo, The Little Sushi Bar
Situated on Woodbourgh Road in Nottingham, this little sushi bar quickly became a go-to for sushi lovers. Their house bowls are a particular standout. Made with fresh, fluffy rice, locally sourced veggies, and seaweed salad, they come with a range of toppings like edamame beans, avocado, mango cubes, coriander, chives, and roasted sesame seeds – the perfect combination of flavours and textures. We loved the fresh cauliflower florets coated in an explosive and spicy coating, fried until golden crispy, and then tossed with spicy firecracker sauce. Their signature hot sushi rolls were fantastic too! A fab sushi takeaway spot.

Kokoro
It’s the first and only Nottingham branch of this brand, and it’s worth checking out if you’re tired of uninspired grab-and-go boxes from the supermarket. At this shop, you can enjoy impossibly fresh sushi sets made on-site. Mix and match your sashimi with hot food or wash it with refreshing aloe juice. Our top recommendations include the crunchy chicken roll, the dragon roll and the salmon teriyaki. It’s topped with their signature Kokoro teriyaki sauce, which adds the perfect tangy flavour to this nutritious meal.

Yo! Sushi
You have probably heard or visited one of the Yo! Sushi sites across the UK, they are very popular! This restaurant is a convenient spot to grab great sushi. All of their hot dishes are made fresh to order, and there’s a wide selection of options, including chicken, beef, and various vegan and vegetarian dishes. We were served very quickly, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. They even did a couple of demonstrations for us! Their most popular dishes include cucumber maki, yakisoba, edamame, inari, seaweed salad, tofu curry, and gyoza. Our little one loved picking his food up from the conveyor belt. Plus its useful to know this Yo! Sushi is fully accessible for those in wheelchairs and offers free Wi-Fi and baby-changing facilities.

Sushimania
When researching where to get sushi in Nottingham, Sushimania often came up. We were also recommended to visit this restaurant by friends as the all-you-can-eat menu is good value, and they do deals on collection orders. So we gave it a try! Sushimania offers a variety of traditional sushi and sashimi options made with the freshest ingredients and a selection of vegan options for those who prefer to skip the raw fish. This restaurant is an excellent option if you’re nervous about trying sushi for the first time, as there are many options to choose from, and their prices are reasonable. P.S The sashimi and tempura are excellent.
