Few things beat the pleasure of a leisurely afternoon tea with friends or loved ones and Stoke on Trent has an excellent selection of places to indulge in this simple pastime; here are 5 of the best places to get afternoon tea in Stoke on Trent so you can plan your next tea date with ease.
The Rabbit Hole Tea Room
We recently went for afternoon tea on the outskirts of Stoke Town Centre, at a place called The Rabbit Hole Tea Room. It’s a small family-run establishment that draws inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, which is reflected in its quirky decor. They have a life-sized dodo, an upside-down grandfather clock, artificial grass on the ceiling, and even a German piano from 1910. One of my favourite features was an old gas lamp made from a tea urn.
The Rabbit Hole serves a variety of homemade treats, including cakes, baked scones, savoury snacks, and a range of refreshing loose teas. They also offer afternoon tea, which is incredible. The Rabbit Hole Tea Room staff are fantastic and couldn’t be more accommodating. One of the unique things about this tea room is that you can choose your sandwich fillings, scone and cake flavours and take leftovers home with you.

The Little Vintage Tea Room
The Little Vintage Tearoom’s afternoon tea serves up freshly baked bread, delicious fillings, crisp salad, and refillable tea, coffee, or squash. And of course, no afternoon tea would be complete without a selection of tasty homemade cakes and scones served with a generous dollop of cream and jam. We were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon The Little Vintage Tearoom at Brampton Museum. The selection of homemade cakes was fantastic, and the Victoria Sponge was probably the best one we’ve ever had – it was as light as a feather! We even took some home with me for later. Overall, the Tea Room is a great addition to the Museum, and we will be back soon.

Wedgwood Tea Room
We highly recommend visiting the Wedgwood Tea Room if you’re looking for a lovely spot to have afternoon tea in Stoke on Trent. My friends and I have celebrated many lovely events here such as birthdays, baby showers and Mother’s Day and have never been disappointed. The menu options are extensive, and we love the Little Gardener’s Afternoon Tea which is especially fun for kids. The sandwiches, cakes, and scones are all incredibly delicious. If you’re a tea lover, make sure to stop by the Tea Emporium, which has a fantastic selection of teas to choose from. The staff are incredibly welcoming and accommodating.

The Teapot at Milton
We love visiting the Teapot at Milton. We recently visited for a child’s birthday party, and we have to say it was amazing! The food was both beautiful and plentiful. We particularly enjoyed the fresh sandwiches and exquisite cakes; the two pots of tea for the kids were a nice touch. We were pleasantly surprised when the lovely staff brought birthday helium balloons and sang happy birthday upon our arrival. We had quite a bit of food left as we went, but the staff kindly gave us boxes to take it home. They serve classic afternoon tea and other food options and host lovely events and activities throughout the year.
