Brit Pop Interiors and the Union Jack
This week’s Brit Awards hammered home what a big year 2012 is for the UK. Is wasn’t till I saw the Union Jack once again emblazoned on everything curtsey of Peter Blake that the penny dropped. This year we celebrate 60 years of the Queen’s reign with the Diamond Jubilee that will include celebrations on 2-5 June including an extra bank holiday. Then this summer, the London 2012 Olympic Games will dominate from 27 July to 12 August 2012. The UK is really showing her colours this year and flying the flag. It’s a year to be patriotic and dust off those Union Jack themed accessories that you bought a couple of years ago.
I think that Peter Blake and his Brit Pop sensibilities have showed us how to make it work in 2012. It’s not simply about red, white and blue and furniture emblazoned with the flag it’s about mixing in other primary colours (think flags across the world, how very Olympic!) and bold shapes. So consider a fun Summer 2012 styling for your home and here’s some ideas to get you started
