Heart Home magazine launched in September 2011 with issue 1 receiving 85,000 views. Issue 2 has already received 75,000 views so is set to reach audiences far beyond our print friends.

Now we are preparing for issue 3 to launch on 8 March 2012 and need your help to get this publication live.



Advertising manager

The role of the Advertising Manager is to generate the much-needed revenue for this independent publishing house. Issue 1 was launched in September 2011 and received over 80,000 unique reads. With several channels for advertisers to buy space, this role requires a person that can be creative with packages to suit the advertisers budgets and to listen to advertisers needs and work with the editorial team to open new channels that can be monetised.

The responsibilities of online advertising sales representatives include:

  • initiating contact with potential advertisers
  • maintaining relationships with existing customers and explaining the advertising opportunities offered
  • booking advertising space on the website, magazine and newsletter
  • sending invoices and chasing payment

 

The requirements of this person are:

  • skill in analysing clients’ needs, including knowledge of how to use advertising to improve the client’s business
  • up-to-date knowledge of specific technology used in digital advertising
  • strong communication and people skills
  • negotiation skills
  • planning and organisational skills
  • project and sales management skills
  • basic accounting skills
  • decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • the ability to develop new ideas
  • computer skills in Word and Excel

This role would suit a junior sales executive looking to earn additional money and gain valuable experience establishing an important advertising role for a new publishing house.

Renumeration is commission-based and uncapped to allow you to fulfill your full potential and be rewarded appropriately. The sky’s the limit!

Editorial assistant(s)

Are you a writer looking to extend your experience in publishing? By joining the Heart Home team in this exciting period you will get some hands-on experience working in a fast-paced environment.

You will be asked to write short articles and introductions under the guidance of the editorial team. You will need to be a keen writer and have a strong interest in design and lifestyle. No computer equipment will be provided.

This role will start immediately until the launch on 8 March 2012 with an opportunity to stay involved with the project on a longer-term basis. Hours are flexible and the work can be done in evenings and weekends should you have other commitments… the perfect role!

Design assistant(s)

: unpaid role

Are you a design graduate or looking to extend your experience in design in the publishing world? Are you interested in learning how a digital start-up uses social media to generate 50% of it’s traffic and advertising revenue. By joining the Heart Home team in this exciting period you will get some hands-on experience working in a fast-paced environment.

You will be asked to design magazine layouts under the guidance of the Heart Home art editor to templates and style guides. You will need to have experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop and have access to these applications in order to take on the role. No computer equipment will be provided.

This role will run from mid-February until early March with an opportunity to stay involved with the project on a longer-term basis. Hours are flexible and the work can be done in evenings and weekends should you have other commitments… the perfect role!

Based in London, we will meet regularly and collaborate although a lot of these meetings can happen over Skype and frequently do.
