Woven oak fencing by Quercus

Garden fencing doesn’t have to be unattractive.  Depending on whether or not you want the fence to be a feature in your garden, you may decide to choose something that has a little bit more class about it.

I often spend time hiding fences – painting them black is a great tip if you want your garden to feel bigger and the fences to disappear.  This works brilliantly for panel or close board fences – you know, the standard fences most people have in their garden.

But sometimes you want the fences to feel part of the garden.  If you want to divide areas, for example, or in small courtyard gardens where the boundaries are very difficult to hide completely.

I love the woven panels by Quercus – they bring texture and class to the garden with one of the most beautiful timbers of all.  Each panel is made using seasoned oak from sustainable sources.  It’s properties as a hardwood make it extremely durable so it will easily last for many years.

Depending on how they are used, I think this type of fencing would work in both contemporary and traditional settings.  I have seen it used at The RHS Chelsea Flower Show before.  The layout of the garden was contemporary but the planting style was in contrast quite cottagey with foxgloves and other soft perennials and grasses.  It looked fabulous.
