Touches of Gold

An accent of gold adds a touch of elegance, particularly in a picture frame. On a current project, looking for art to fill the walls, I became more interested in the frames. Black was too severe, white too pale for this space, but gold, some gold frames with charcoal drawings, that would give it definition and give that touch of elegance. So I was looking at frames this week in the Christmas rush.

But it is other accents where I was distracted that a little gold can be applied: wallpaper or a cushion.

The wall papers would be a great backdrop for an arrangement of gold frames. Maybe some yellow gold cushions for the sofa.

And other touches I saw in furniture and tassels:

A carved gilt wood console table, swagged and fluted,  marvelous, but too much for this project, but look at the carving.

And when many touches are used you have a room like this from the Homes and Garden site, it shimmers with a star burst mirror over the fireplace, gold damask curtains, a gold plate on wall sconces that bounces back golden light and a table cloth draped like a golden fleece. It makes the room warm and festive. The right amount of touches, a lovely room.
