The little black dress of interiors.

In 1920 Coco Chanel unveiled the first version of the little black dress in Vogue magazine, since then the colour black has never gone out of style, including in interiors.
Black is definitely bold and it makes the colours paired beside it pop while conveying a sense of drama. Either a black accent wall or a Canaletto surrounded by this amazing hue – anything can be framed and look so elegant.

Tip – the shade and finish of black will vary immensely with the light. So, just as you would with any other colour, try paint samples on the wall and examine them at various times throughout the day.
If you have a small room don’t worry, black will not make it look smaller; dark rooms feel larger because the room lines disappear.
Tip – add a hint of blue to black paint to increase its intensity, creating a midnight-blue tone; great for a hallway or powder rom.

Floors can be inked or stained, black granite is another great choice plus pairing black and white looks great on any floor, especially with hallways and kitchens.

Hang art or photographs on a black wall; If the home features monochromatic art or sculpture on a wall, then the focal point will be the colour of the artwork.
Use floor-length curtains in black and give it the tuxedo look with white detailing. For a more formal and elegant look, use the reverse black and white scheme on the chairs.

Now only the bravest of souls should venture forth, for a grand look pair black with gold; a black room with gold accents will surely make a dramatic statement.
