Styling Spotlight: West Elm
I always find inspiration perusing the seasonal catalogues of homeware brands, and for me, one for the best is West Elm. Have you ever visited their website? Despite being US-based they now ship to the UK, and their new Alfresco Summer catalogue is packed full of quirky style ideas for pepping up your outdoor living space, California style..
Vibrant colour pops will instantly lift an outside space and help create a balmy, tropical atmosphere. Try painting one of your external walls in a warm pastel shade to compliment the zingy accents.
One of the hottest trends this summer is bringing the indoors out, helping to extend your living space. Consider outdoor modular seating if the space allows, low occasional tables, and outdoor rugs to bring the essence of your home outside.
String some pretty fairy lights above your patio table to create a warm, magical environment for your early evening supper. Lay the table as you would indoors – do not settle for paper plates and plastic cutlery!
Ok, so you’re unlikely to have an outdoor pool, but why not indulge in some large patterned cushions to liven up your outdoor seating?
Hanging candle lanterns from your outdoor parasol offers the perfect mood lighting for alfresco dining.
Lay raffia matting on your outdoor deck for a cool textured surface underfoot, and pair with nautical themed blue and white striped linens and accessories.
