Vintage nostalgia – pretty colours and home accessories
There’s no doubt that we are ccurrently enjoying love affair with nostalgia. The success of period television programmes such as Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge recreate images of bygone eras; of times we imagine to be more elegant and romantic.
Softer, muted tones of colour create soothing palettes with a feeling of timelessness and quality. Think sugary, cool pastels and deep but not heavy blush and berry tones. Paint colours such as Oyster Lily, Diva, Subtle Angel and Sugared Violet from the Paint and Paper Library and Dove Blue, Dawn Blue, Turkish Blue, Blue Clay and Scotch Grey from Sanderson Paints create serene, classic colour palettes.
In keeping with the vintage nostalgia theme, have a look at the www.sassandbelle.co.uk website for some lovely vintage style craft, jewellery, decorations and home accessories such as the Ceramic Bird Coasters and Floral heart hanging decorations.
Museum shops are a great source of vintage nostalgia inspired gifts and accessories. This Vintage style glass apothecary Gentleman’s Elixir Bottle with a round glass stopper would make an elegant addition to the bathroom or dressing room and can be found at the Museum of London Shop.
Other vintage style finds from the Museum of London Shop include this Fashion Notebook , Fashion compact mirror, ladies handkerchiefs, sewing kit and lavender filled hearts.
