Maximising Space in a Small Bedroom
Being stuck with a small bedroom is no fun, but there are always little tips and tricks that can help you make the most of what you have. Whether it’s decluttering your possessions or adding more storage space to the walls, you can give yourself a little more room to breathe.
Probably the bulkiest piece of furniture in any bedroom is the bed. Reducing the size of your bed is one possibility, but why not replace it with something that uses space a bit more efficiently? Storage beds, such as these ones from Storage Beds Direct, provide a handy place to put socks and underwear, meaning you might be able to get rid of a chest of drawers or two.
Meanwhile, think about the unused space on your walls. Adding a couple of rows of shelving gives you a place to keep books and DVDs, without the need to compromise on floor space with cabinets. Alternatively, you can stack a chest of drawers on top of a larger one, using wall fastenings to fix them in place. Hanging a mirror or two about the place also helps to create the illusion of more room: every little helps!
Finally, do as much as you can to minimise the clutter in your room. Laundry baskets stop clothes piling up on the floor, which makes the room look cramped, and think about whether you really need ornaments and knick-knacks when space is at a premium.
