Lighting showcasing at Milan
While the design world is focused on Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano (17th to 22nd April 2012) I thought I’d highlight some of my favourite suppliers who happen to be showing in Milan. Both these companies are showing at MOST in the National Museum of Science and Technology.
British design company Tom Dixon launches ‘Luminosity’ a showcase of new lamps, lights and shades presented in a series of illuminated environments. I wish I was getting to see them in situ
Etch Web is a vast 65cm wide copper shade with an unusual open structure, designed to cast atmospheric angular shadows when lit. Whilst I haven’t seen it in the flesh yet I will be making a trip to Portobello Dock soon to see it.

Fin an aluminium pendant light, proudly exposes its inner workings, taking usually invisible electrical components and making them integral to the design.

As part of Portugal Brands Delightful is showcasing its new designs. I’m particularly taken with the IKE suspension as its rhythmic elements convey glamour and are a touch retro. The structure is made in brass and the lampshades in aluminium.

Wall light Brubeck takes its inspiration from musical instruments – looks alot like a set of organ pipes to me. It’s a very decorative and impressive looking piece made from brass tubes that are 55cm in length.

Would any of these be offered a place in your home?
