Floral-inspired paintings by Cornwall-based artist Stephanie Axtell

On a recent holiday in Devon, I discovered the work of Cornwall-based artist Stephanie Axtell.
I spotted one of her lovely paintings on a greeting card by Art Cards Cornwall in a shop which I regularly visit.
So, on returning home, I decided to look Stephanie up on the internet and I discovered her website.
This week’s blog post features a selection of her paintings, all of which feature a floral element…

As for a little about Stephanie’s background…
She studied Illustration at Falmouth School of Art and Design, and graduated in 1993. She then spent sixteen years as an illustrator, mostly working in watercolour, illustrating greeting cards, books, magazines and packaging.
Stephanie collects vintage crockery and this on-going interest together with old books, found treasures, flowers, walks and experiences of her home, Cornwall, give her inspiration for her work.
And if you look closely, you’ll often find some of these decorative objects in the foreground of her paintings.
She works in acrylic on Gesso primed board and her paintings can be found at Cornwall Contemporary in Penzance.
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing Stephanie’s artwork today. They certainly would add colour to a room and brighten up your home…
