Floral-inspired home accessories from Jan Constantine

I’ve long been an admirer of Jan Constantine‘s beautiful hand-embroidered home accessories, so today I thought I’d feature a selection of her floral-inspired designs starting off with these lovely cushions.
From her ‘Country Garden Collection’ are these gorgeous tea cosies, which are directly inspired by her grandmother’s and great-aunt’s embroidery from the 1920s, 30s and 40s.

These flowery and colourful tea cosies below are from her ‘Love and Peace Collection’…

If you’re not familiar with Jan, she started her business ten years ago when she relocated to the Cheshire countryside. She used to be a fashion designer doing lots of embroidery on clothing and then went into interior design. However, she missed the embroidery, so she started stitching lavender bags around the kitchen table with friends.
The business has grown steadily and her designs are now stocked in major stores in the UK such as Liberty, Selfridges and John Lewis, and numerous boutiques in the UK and US.
As for recent news…last year, Jan opened her first flagship store at Trentham Gardens Shopping Village in Staffordshire.
She launched a second embroidery book called ‘Love Stitching‘ featuring 21 decorative appliqué and hand-embroidery projects, including her signature cushions, bags, aprons and other home accessories.
Also, her range now includes London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic memorabilia.

Jan will be exhibiting at the Country Living Spring Fair from March 21st-25th. So do pop along to her stand if you’re visiting.
And to keep up-to-date with their news, the company is on Twitter and Facebook, plus they have a blog.
