Floral highlights from RE’s new shop at Liberty

Last week, I attended the press event to launch lifestyle brand RE‘s new shop at Liberty in London. And today’s blog post features my floral highlights.

Simon Young and Jenny Vaughan launched the company in 2003 from a converted garage in Northumberland.  Their aim has always been to sell anything that corresponds with their idea of what is beautiful.

Simon said: “We love utility, both old and new, small runs and mass production alike.  We also sell cared-for second hand pieces like garden tools, lighting, textiles and furniture, because they are functional and still work.

We have recycled and fair trade products and our own exclusive range designed in house under the REgd. brand.”

On entering their dedicated area on the fourth floor, the huge structure below decorated in faux flowers immediately caught my eye.

On speaking to Jenny, I learnt this installation was their first of many that they plan to create as part of an ever-changing calendar of seasonal displays focusing on key events and past times.  For example, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the British summer time, harvest festival and Christmas.

So as it’s spring and Easter soon, they decided to create the lovely egg-shaped design which you can see below.  It certainly was a talking point that evening…

I loved the floral hand-knitted tea cosy on the left below, which is inspired by a vintage design.

There was also an outdoor area with tools, traditional seed varieties including herbs, vegetables and cottage garden flowers.

Floral vintage postcards, glass vases and wire cloches also caught my eye…

So, if you’re in London, why not pop into Liberty and visit RE’s new shop. It’s on the fourth floor.
