Ceramic garden sculptures by Lucy Smith

I was introduced to Lucy Smith by Garden Designer, Fiona Stephenson, who I worked with when I was training.  She has a couple of Lucy’s pieces in her own garden including a wall fountain in the courtyard area by the house.

Being the daughter of a garden designer herself, Lucy grew up in an environment where the garden was used as a forum for expressing artistic ideas and for incorporating works of art.

My personal favourites are the wall fountains and shallow bowls and this year at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show my eye was drawn immediately to this wonderful wall plaque.

Lucy regularly exhibits at the major RHS shows and has often shown her work at the Chelsea Flower Show.  All her pieces are glazed fired clay and reflect the natural world.  They often feature frogs, lizards and birds as well as the less popular garden creatures…snails!

All Lucy’s work is fired at high temperatures to ensure that it can remain outside all year round and the glazes are chosen so that they work well with wall surfaces and plant foliage.

In addition to the standard range of pieces, Lucy also regularly works with clients to produce individual commissioned pieces.  She works from her studio in East London and you can see a full selection of her work on the Lucy Smith website.
