Valentino Haute Couture Fashion Show Spring/Summer 2008 at the Pompidou Centre, Paris, France – 23 Jan 2008

A star-studded audience packed Paris’s Pompidou Centre on Wednesday (Jan 23) for fashion legend Valentino’s final haute couture show. The 75-year-old Italian designer thrilled the crowd with a typically sumptuous, glamorous showcase of his talents, and a spectacular finale featuring dozens of models dressed identically in Valentino’s signature scarlet colour. Spectators including Anna Wintour, Uma Thurman, Claudia Schiffer and Lucy Liu gave the diminutive designer a standing ovation as he brought the curtain down on his phenomenally successful career, in which he has dressed everyone from Jackie Kennedy to Kate Winslet. “I am extremely happy,” Valentino said at the show. “That is why I am not emotional, because I feel very strong and to have this demonstration of affection, of love, of such generosity – I really am on cloud nine!”
