Behind the Scenes at Folklore
The shop had only been open a few days and the window display just drew us in to explore and have a chat with the owner Danielle Reid, who has opened the shop with her husband Rob. Not surprisingly considering the window display Danielle turned out to be an interior designer, but one with a very special ethos. She believes that better living is possible through design and all of the products in her shop are made in an environmentally mindful way.
Some are handmade, some are antique and many are made from recycled or found materials. They all however share a high level of craftmanship, quality, simplicity and durability.
We just loved the carefully curated selection of homewares, furniture, lighting and accessories. All of which were just begging to be picked up and touched and examined. And of course the design of the shop and the displays reflected the owners taste and ethos beautifully.
Not only that, Folklore have pledged to donate 15% of their profit each year to a different not for profit organisation. This year they are supporting Shanti Microfinance which was set up by a friend Sheetal Mehta to promote entrepreneurship and sustainability in some of India’s poorest slums and villages.
