As for a little bit of background about the company…it was founded in 2000 by the late Bernard Ashley, who was the husband of Laura Ashley.

He requested that their daughter Emma Shuckburgh (née Ashley) act as its Creative Director.

Named after Emma’s home in the Elan Valley near Rhayader, Elanbach is based at Sir Bernard’s five-star hotel, Llangoed Hall, near Brecon.

The company launched its first shop in Hay-on-Wye in 2001 and as well as creating fabrics, they also make curtains, blinds, wallpaper and box files.

The inspiration for Emma’s Vintage Floral Collection came from a visit to a manor house in the Sussex countryside.

There were roses around the door, a log fire, garden flowers in jugs and sofas covered in faded florals that looked as if they had been there forever.

She said: “I wanted to evoke the relaxed nostalgic feel of this rural idyll”.

The collection centres around Compton a sprawling floral that Emma found on a linen hanging from the 1930s. Elsted is a romantic design of peonies and is named after the village in Sussex where Emma now lives with her family.  Petworth is a rambling rose and Treyford and Midhurst are large statement floral designs that complete the collection.
