Beautiful botanical-inspired carpets by Deirdre Dyson

This week, I’m delighted to feature Deirdre Dyson‘s beautiful new botanical-inspired carpets. I spotted the Devil’s Bit Scabious design above in an interior design magazine…and decided to investigate further.
Inspired by a friend’s wildflower meadow, the rich colours of autumn and her own vegetable garden, Deirdre’s new 2012 collection brings the outdoors inside, into your home.
The other carpets in the collection are named Daisy, Ribwort Plantain, Salad Days, Daisy Chain, Hairy Sedge and Autumn Leaves. And each design is available in wool or a combination of wool and silk.
Deirdre said : “I start with one idea, usually heavily influenced by colour, and the theme evolves from this first design. My hope is that I have captured the freshness of spring, the brightness and sometimes dryness of summer and the vibrancy of autumn”.
Like all of Deirdre’s designs, each bespoke carpet can be produced in any shape or size and from a palette of over two thousand shades, making each one truly unique.
And each of her carpets is crafted by Tibetan experts, practised in the ancient skill of hand-knotting with Chinese or Indian silk and Tibetan wool, or hand-tufted in Yorkshire or Scotland, from New Zealand wool.
Here are the rest of the new collection, shown with close-ups…

I hope you’ve enjoyed see Deirdre’s new botanical-inspired carpets. If you’re like to see them up close, she has a showroom in King’s Road in London.
My favourite is the first design, Devil’s Bit Scabious. Which one’s yours?
