Beautiful blues!

Now that the sun is shining my thoughts go to beautiful blue skies and the magnificent sea; this is my inspiration to show how you can decorate with blue.

Blue signifies strength, wealth and provides warmth and comfort.

There are a myriad of beautiful shades of blue—some cool, some warm, and they mix well together.

-Warm blues, contain hints of red and colour experts say they advance, making the room feel cosier. Great for spaces like the living room, kitchen or even dining room.

-Cool blues, contain yellow in them and tend to recede, making a small space look bigger. Great to use in an office, bathroom or bedroom unless it is a child’s room, forgo the bright or primary shades and look for light, soft, warm shades of blue to take advantage of blue’s relaxing effect.

Whatever shade of blue you choose, the mood it evokes will depend largely on what colours you select for accents. Green, yellow, earth tones and neutrals will add sophistication and freshness to many blues.

And if you are really adventurous why not try a sleek kitchen, with a blue finish in high-gloss lacquer; contrast it with soft cream walls to help electrify that stunning bold shade.

If you’re not sure that you will love such a strong statement, then try painting the walls of the kitchen in a royal or cobalt blue; easy fix if you get tired of it.

I find bathrooms and powder rooms the perfect place to experiment with colour, if you decide you really don’t like something, it can be changed very easily. Find a colour you love, even if it’s a bit bolder than you’re used to, try it.
